Philippine Animal Welfare Society
Animal Shelter
The volunteer-based organization rehabilitates rescued animals in the hope of finding them new homes and a second chance at a good life.
Animal Rescue
We rescue animals that are in distress, or are victims of cruelty and neglect.
Low-cost Vet Clinic
The PAWS shelter also serves as an animal-welfare information center and a low-cost spay-neuter clinic.
Spay/Neuter Outreach Program
PAWS provides free spaying and neutering services to animals in rural communities.
Trap-Neuter-Return Program
Paws educates and provides responsible trap-neuter-release practices to communities to help curb the stray cat population.
Lobbying and Legal Work
PAWS continuously meets with government officials to lobby for better treatment of animals. We also provide free legal assistance to those who want to file cases against animal offenders.
Campaigning
PAWS campaigns actively against dogfights, horsefights and against wild animals being used for entertainment.
Dr. Dog Program
PAWS conducts the Animal Asia Foundation’s ‘Doctor Dog Program in the Philippines (animal-assisted therapy). Together with certified Dr. Dogs, volunteers visit nursing homes, adult day-care centers, hospitals, schools and other establishments. They give patients the feeling that they are the most special people in world. With a loyal new friend who won’t judge them for the way they look or their illness, a Dr. Dog accepts them regardless of class, race, age or disability. Despite the advances in medical science, our Dr. Dog partners agree that love is still the best medicine.
Humane Education
The organization gives presentations at elementary schools, barangays, and companies regarding issues such as responsible pet ownership, pet handling and safety, pet overpopulation and endangered species.

PAWS LEAD Program
PAWS LEAD (Literacy and Education Assistance Dogs) is a first of its kind program in our country. These dogs and their handlers help school children gain confidence in reading and learning through encouragement and fostering a judgment-free zone while teaching Responsible Pet Ownership and Raising Awareness for Animal Welfare.
Rescue and Relief Operations
PAWS provides disaster relief to pets affected by disasters.
Horse Outreach
PAWS organizes biannual free seminars to the coachmen of Intramuros and Binondo, educating them on proper care and humane treatment of horses lead by our volunteer equine veterinarian, who also provide free veterinary check-ups for their horses.
